Success Factors
The successful rollout of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) action plans in the pilot countries was driven by the inclusion of diverse employees from various levels in workshops to gain multiple perspectives. We adapted our approach in each country based on the local context and lessons learned from previous workshops, and most importantly the strong commitment of the local management and implementation teams. Thus the plans respect local cultures and focus on needs at the production sites.
Best-Practice Examples
Norway, Romania, and Belgium: Piloting projects
Some best practice examples of implemented diversity actions in the three pilot countries include conducting training for all employees and integrating diversity topics into safety days, launching an awareness campaign on diversity-related topics, organizing a DEI workshop with all country leaders, and establishing a core team to drive diversity initiatives, as well as appointing diversity teams for each location.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
One of the challenges in setting up the action plans in each country is selecting the most impactful actions while keeping priorities manageable to ensure successful implementation.
A key lesson learned is the importance of further tailoring the approach to each country by recognizing their unique challenges, cultural contexts, and levels of progress. Our focus is on offering even more tailored approaches and support to the country teams starting their DEI journeys.
Future Commitment
Our future commitments include providing customized support to the 10 countries developing their DEI action plans in 2025 and offering ongoing support to all countries through best practice sharing and tailored resources.
