Target and performance
wienerberger has established a long-lasting and trustful cooperation with Habitat for Humanity International. With this cooperation, we achieve a significant amount of housing units built for people in need per year in Europe and North America, supporting our target of building 200 housing units with our products for people in need in our local markets every year. In 2025 wienerberger has extended its partnership with Habitat for Humanity International.

wienerberger is committed to creating the greatest possible benefit for society. For many years, we have been supporting social projects and institutions. Within the framework of our social projects, we create housing and decent living conditions for people in need, above all in the countries we operate in.
Success Factors
In 2024, wienerberger focused on supporting disadvantaged people through product donations and expertise in social housing projects. Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity International as well as various cooperations with local NGO's enabled the successful completion of numerous initiatives. In addition, wienerberger employees also volunteered to build homes. These efforts reflect our dedication to creating lasting social value and driving positive change in communities.

Here are highlights of 2024 social housing projects with Habitat for Humanity International and local initiatives by wienerberger country organizations. These efforts focused on building and renovating homes and non-residential community facilities to improve living conditions for those in need.
- Hungary: Roof Repairs
In Baranyaszentgyörgy, one of Hungary’s poorest regions, wienerberger Hungary, in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity, supported roof repairs for seven single-family homes, enhancing safety and security for vulnerable families. - India: Affordable Housing
wienerberger India developed climate-suited, thermally insulated affordable homes. In 2024, wienerberger built 19 houses, offering sustainable solutions for people below the poverty line. - Poland: Hospice Construction
wienerberger Poland donated ceramic materials for a hospice in Lębork, supporting the care of 200–250 patients annually and their families during tough times. - Denmark: Safe Haven Renovation
Egernsund wienerberger donated materials to renovate Helligsølejren, a retreat for disadvantaged children, families, and individuals facing addiction, homelessness, or mental health challenges. - United States: Housing for Women in Recovery
General Shale provided bricks for a home in Mississippi, supporting women overcoming addiction through the "Last House on the Block – For Women" initiative.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
Collaborating with dependent partner organizations posed challenges, but close partnerships and employee involvement ensured success. Donations of materials and expertise supported housing, community centers, and facilities, including recovery efforts for disaster-stricken families.

Infrastructure (fresh water or wastewater connection): Residential construction/renovation: connection of four housing units to the fresh water supply or wastewater disposal system or connection per predefined surface of 60 m² in non-residential construction = one housing unit.
